Who we are
Harris & Harris Books is an independent bookshop at 3a High Street, Clare, Suffolk CO10 8NY. The website harrisharris.co.uk is run by Harris & Harris Books Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 16245404, with its registered office at the same address. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under reference ZC015994.

What we collect and why
We collect personal information only when you give it to us. If you email us, phone us or message us on social media, we keep your name, your contact details and what you tell us, so that we can reply and deal with your enquiry. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us.
We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
Our YouTube channel and Google services
We publish videos to our YouTube channel, @HarrisHarrisBooks, using YouTube API Services. The software we use for this signs in only to our own channel, to upload our videos and manage our playlists. It does not access, collect or store information about people who watch our videos or about any other YouTube user.
YouTube’s Terms of Service apply when you use YouTube, and Google handles any information it collects under the Google Privacy Policy.
Anyone who has given an application access to their Google account can remove that access at any time from their Google security settings.
Instagram and Facebook
We use Meta’s tools to copy our own Instagram videos to our YouTube channel. This reads only the posts we have published ourselves. When you visit our Instagram or Facebook pages, Meta’s own privacy policy applies to what Meta collects.
How long we keep it
We keep emails and messages for up to two years after our last contact with you, unless they relate to an order, in which case we keep them for six years to meet our legal accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that provide our email and website hosting, who handle it on our behalf and under our instructions, or where the law requires us to.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. Email bookshop@harrisharris.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with a new date at the top.
